The survey, design, and construction contract provided a 23-foot wide asphalt carriageway and shoulders for 12 miles of road in the vicinity of Bagram Airfield. Defined as a (Major Road) by the Afghanistan Ministry of Public Works the pavement section included HMA, base, subbase, and a sub-grade.
Each portion of this project had different site conditions at the time of award; from existing dirt roads to gravel sections and existing paved roads which required serious improvement. RRCC also removed and replaced existing bridges, 37 culverts, erosion control structures, sidewalks with curbs and closed channels, earthen ditches, and retaining walls.
